VR and Game Based Training

Late last year Outrider attended GCAP '19 (Gaming Connect Asia Pacific) and we witnessed first-hand the breadth of purpose in this technology space. From the artistry involved in building designer games for a bespoke audience to the industrial use of VR and game based training there is plenty going on in this vibrant sector.
Businesses should explore options in this domain as the gamer technology industry in Melbourne is well structured for experimentation.
- the gamer community has a strong proof of concept culture (commercial ideas are tested before big commitments are made)
- as a result financial risk can be managed
- there is a strong culture of collaboration amongst studios on a day to day basis meaning problems can be solved in more creative ways
- the industry is seeking to diversify and build for a greater range of customers including business customers
- so there is genuine appetite to explore emerging ways of using gamer technology for different applications
Outrider have recently had some discussions with Bondi Labs (bondilabs.com); it would be fair to say that the solutions they deliver sit at the opposite end of the digital gaming spectrum to what you might see on the Xbox or PlayStation. Their use of gamer technology, training approaches and VR tick boxes that many businesses need in terms of improving human performance and capturing measurable data.
If your business relies heavily on competencies developed and data collected through long hours spent “in the field” then it’s definitely time to start exploring options in the gamer technology domain.
